Missionarios!

Rosa arrived in SLC last week for her 18 month fulltime Family History Service Mission. She drove here from San Antonio, Texas where she owns her home. She has been working in the San Antonio LDS Temple. When she arrived, she found that her apartmento was not ready for her to move into. We invited her to stay with us until it is ready. We've enjoyed having her here catching up on her life as well as her children's lives. We don't get to see those nieces and nephews very often and have enjoyed hearing about them. We do see some of them occasionally on FB, however! Anyway, she has been through orientation and is now attending two weeks of training.

In the meantime, My brother and his wife from Clinton, just finished their training as partime Family History Service Missionaries! They are so excited to serve. They said, "We are right where we want to be – in the Family History Library. We’ll work on the main floor, helping people that come in for help with their ancestors and tracing their family trees. Some may just come in for help with the new Family Search program". I know they will be an asset to their mission because they know so much about Family History having done family history for many many years as well as teaching it. They said their week long training was a spiritual high and they are ready to serve! They said, "We want you to know that the Church is true! Our Heavenly Father loves us and hears and answers our prayers. The Spirit of Elijah is becoming stronger and stronger on the earth – turning hearts of children to their fathers and fathers to their children. There is so much work to be done for those that have gone on before us. It’s our responsibility to do this work – and this new program makes it so much easier!" ~We wish them well!

As for Perry and I, we have also been called to serve as missionaries in the Hispanic Iniative. We attended orientation last Tuesday. We have been asked to serve in a LDS Spanish Branch in Kearns and visited their meetings yesterday (Sunday). I was surprised that I could understand some of the Spanish and I plan to work really hard at understanding and speaking the Spanish language. We have training this week. Perry is really excited because he can expand his language skills as he shares the Gospel. He served a fulltime spanish speaking mission 40 years ago! We love the people and the Lord so we know we will enjoy serving and hope to do much good helping others to come unto Christ.
